What the Cleveland, Texas Case Teaches Us About Rape Culture in America

I can’t stop reading the coverage of the new gang rape case, even though it makes me sick to my stomach to keep on reading. It’s not just the crime that makes me feel physically ill when I think about it. It’s the…

YOU NEED TO READ THIS RIGHT NOW.

Our society needs to stop worrying about the monsters who commit rape and instead take better care of the victims of their violent acts.  Why the fuck does our society value men over women so much?  Why the fuck are people socializing their children to care about “how will this affect his life?” more than “is she going to be all right?” or “will there be justice?”

This makes me want to be a health teacher or a guidance counselor so I can spread the truth about our society and rape culture to the next generation, so they can make a difference.  I definitely know I will be educating those around me so they can help to re-empower women and fight against perpetrators of violence and misogyny.
